FAQ
Check out the most common questions our customers asked. Still have questions? Contact our customer support.
Will Trihear SmartMic work with my hearing aids?
Trihear SmartMic is specially optimized for compatible Phonak and Unitron hearing devices to deliver stable low-latency audio transmission and clearer everyday listening experiences.
Compatibility may vary depending on hearing aid model and wireless protocol. If you are unsure whether your hearing device is supported, please feel free to contact the Trihear support team before purchasing.
Who is the Trihear SmartMic designed for?
The Trihear SmartMic is an assistive listening microphone designed for adults and seniors who already wear hearing aids but still struggle to hear clearly in challenging, everyday situations. It acts as a powerful companion device to bridge the gap in noisy rooms or when listening to someone from a distance.
How does the SmartMic help me hear conversations better in noisy places like restaurants?
Instead of trying to amplify everything in a loud room, you can simply clip the lightweight SmartMic onto your companion's collar or shirt chest. It captures their exact voice directly at the source and streams it wirelessly to your hearing aids, drastically reducing background noise and making speech crisp and clear.
Do I need a complicated app to pair it with my hearing aids for the first time?
Not at all. The SmartMic is designed for stress-free operation. The very first time you turn it on, it automatically enters pairing mode. You just need to turn your hearing aids on and place them close to the SmartMic; the device handles the connection by itself without any complex smartphone apps.
Will I have to re-pair the microphone to my hearing aids every time I turn it on?
No, it intelligently remembers your equipment. As long as a pairing record exists, turning on your SmartMic and your hearing aids within 10 minutes of each other will trigger an automatic, seamless reconnection. If it doesn't detect your device within 10 minutes, it safely powers down automatically to preserve the battery.
Can I use the SmartMic to listen to my television or mobile phone?
Yes, it is highly versatile. The system includes a standard 3.5mm audio cable. You can plug one end into the SmartMic's audio port and the other directly into a mobile phone, tablet, or television set-top box to stream clear media audio straight to your hearing devices.
How far away can the speaker walk before the microphone disconnects?
The SmartMic supports a long-distance, stable wireless range of up to 20 meters (66 feet) under typical conditions. Please note that while it doesn't require a strict line-of-sight to function, large physical barriers like heavy walls or large furniture can slightly reduce the maximum distance.
How long does the battery last, and can I use it while it is charging?
The built-in lithium-ion battery provides up to 8 hours of continuous working time under typical daily scenarios. If you are sitting down for a long day of television or a lengthy visit, the SmartMic is fully functional and can be safely used while plugged into its charger.
How long does it take to charge, and does it come with a power adapter?
Using the included Type-C charging cable, a full charge takes approximately 2 hours. While a wall adapter is not included in the box, the system charges perfectly with any standard, household 5V/1A USB power adapter.
Is it easy for a senior to adjust the volume manually?
Yes, the controls are incredibly simple and use intuitive multi-function buttons. Once the SmartMic is connected to your hearing aid, a quick, single short press on the side buttons can increase or decrease the volume.
What kind of warranty coverage does Trihear provide for the SmartMic?
Trihear offers a dependable 1-year warranty on the main SmartMic unit starting from your official purchasing date. The packed accessories (such as the charging and audio cables) are protected by a 6-month warranty period.
